Normal range: Negative

Comment: Culture media may include enriched chocolate, Thayer-Martin with antibiotics, brain heart infusion (BHI) with 7% horse blood, and Mueller Hinton with 5% sheep blood. The organism is microaerophilic and grows best in a reduced O2 atmosphere or in a Campy – Pak system at 35oC. Cultures are usually observed for 7 days before being reported as negative. Patch distribution of H. pylori may allow all biopsy – based tests to fail to diagnose the infection
