Comment: Test is helpful in supporting the diagnosis of infection with Schistosoma spp. especially when the eggs cannot be demonstrated in the faeces or urine. Presence of antibodies is indicative of schistosoma but cannot be correlated with worm burden, egg production, clinical status or prognosis. Current infection is associated with a rising titer. Titer can remain high for some years after infection. Cross-reactions may occur with other parasitic diseases, including hydatid infection
