Comment: IgG-HAV antibody develops in acute hepatitis A (infective hepatitis) and persists after recovery. It denotes past (clinical or sub-clinical) infection and not current infectivity. A specific antibody (IgM) may be found early, denoting current or recent infection. This may persist for several weeks after onset of infection. A vaccine is now available; antibody measurement is advisable before administration
